Finally in 1990, it was renamed as Ministry of Local Development from the then Ministry of Panchayat and Local Development which was named in 1981. The ministry since then has been inheriting the present organization structure and assuming the role of expediting local development and decentralization.

Public Service Commission (PSC) was established in Nepal on 15 June 1951 A.D. The Commission is involved in selecting meritorious candidates required by Government of Nepal for various vacant posts of the civil service. The continuity of PSC has never been hindered since its establishment. Present Constitution of Nepal 2007(2063 BS) has designated the Public Service Commission as an independent constitutional body.

Ministry of Tourism first came into existence in 2035 BS (1978 AD). In 2039 (1982 AD), Civil Aviation was also merged into the Ministry of Tourism and it became the Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation. Government of Nepal has been actively promoting tourism in Nepal and has always encouraged the private sector for their involvement and participation. The Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation (MOTCA) gives equal importance to conservation of natural, cultural and human resources.
